According  IMO ,  IBC-Code, 2004 International code for the construction and equipment of ships carrying dangerous chemicals in bulk - MSC.176(79) / MEPC.119(52) , tankers should have ;

Cargo Tank Overfill Alarm.

Systems are usually indipendent from each other. High Level Alarm generates warning at 95% of tank level and Overfill alarm is taken at 98% of tank level.

Alarm sounds and lights are different color than each other .

Sensors are installed to top of tanks and can be dirrerent types , such as float , electrode or optical.

We test all kind of High and Overfill Alarms  in accordance manufacturing design and manufacturer guidance. 

 

Gas Alarms
 

     Almost all places of tankers are dangerous for explosion. Cargo tanks , all deck , aft , fore , pump room , wings , etc..It's very important to know explosive gas level or Oxygen level in cargo tanks and pump room , similar places onboard. 

To prevent explosions and saving human life , tankers are equipped with gas alarm systems with different sensor types. O2 , H2S , LEL , HC4 , etc.. 

   There are fixed gas detection system and portable devices .

All systems , fixed or portable detectors  should be calibrated every 3 months at least. 

Gas sensors in detectors are electro-chemical effected materials and their sensitivity can be out of whack easily with time.
